What we do with your details

We are a small cooperative, not a data business. Here is the short, plain account of what we hold about you and why.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is Crefftau Eryri / Snowdonia Makers Cooperative Ltd, trading as Snowdon Design & Craft Guild, at Hen Ysgol Craft Workshops, Holyhead Rd, Betws-y-Coed LL24 0AB, Gwynedd. Write to guild@snowdondesignandcraft.com and a member of the cooperative will answer, not a ticketing system.

What this website collects

Almost nothing. The site has no forms, no accounts, no cookies and no analytics, and we do not use advertising or tracking pixels. The one thing to know is that the pages load their type from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches those fonts, Google receives your IP address and browser details under its own policy. We have no access to that, and we would rather tell you than leave it out.

Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs for a short period to keep the site secure and working. We do not read them for any other purpose.

What we collect when you write to us

If you email us, we hold your name, your address, your messages and anything you attach, such as photographs of a hearth or a measured sketch of a cill. If you commission work, we also hold the quote, the delivery address, the dates and amounts of payments, and our making notes.

We use this to answer you, to price and make the work, to deliver it and to keep our accounts. Our legal basis is that you asked us to take steps toward a contract, or that we are performing one. Keeping accounting records is a legal obligation. Sending you a note about a finished commission, or the occasional kiln opening you may enjoy, rests on our legitimate interest, and you can say no at any time.

How long we keep it

Who else sees it

We share only what is needed, with our email provider, our accountant, couriers and carriers who deliver your order, and the payment services that take your money. We do not sell data and we do not hand lists to anyone. If a quarry, roofer or fellow maker needs to speak to you for your job, we ask you first.

Your data stays in the United Kingdom or in countries covered by UK adequacy arrangements. Where a provider handles data elsewhere, we require the safeguards the law prescribes.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, you may ask to see what we hold, to correct it, to have it erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to take a copy in a portable form. Email us and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with an answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes

If we begin using analytics, a booking form or anything else that collects data, we will change this page before we do so. This version was last revised on 28 October 2026. Our terms explain how commissions work.
